The Archive Residency is our ongoing commissioning and presenting program, providing a two-year commitment of time, space, and support to select independent theatre companies. Each residency culminates in a world premiere of a new work. In partnership with IRT Theatre, our neighbors in the Archive Building, we provide independent theatre companies with that most elusive and invaluable resource: an artistic home.

This year we’re taking the festival online and opening it up to include indie theatre artists from across the United States! We’re excited meet a new, national community of fellow theatre artists, and showcase new perspectives and voices from across the country. This year, it’s national!
The NYC Indie Theatre Film Festival supports indie theatre artists defying labels and branching out into digital media. We present short films, music videos, and web series episodes, as well as industry panels, and special screenings. Past keynote speakers include Julie Taymor, Theresa Rebeck, and Charles Busch.
Spring 2020 NYC ITFF
Theatre for Young Minds is our cutting-edge, intergenerational theatre program of family-friendly fare now in its 5th year.
New Ohio Presents is our big tent presenting program for one off projects that don’t fit into our other programs.
New Ohio Hosts is our rigorously curated hosting program, providing discount theatre space to select companies who share our commitment to innovative theatre.
Producing slots are typically 3-5 weeks long, exclusive use. Rental of the Ohio Theatre includes our lighting, sound, and soft goods inventory, as well as marketing support and use of our box office ticketing account.
The season is curated by the New Ohio’s artistic and producing staff. You can help your application by making us familiar with your work year round. In keeping with our artistic mission, priorities (and discounted rates) are given to not-for-profit companies.

- the producing company (or individual artists)
- the project
- the dates of interest
