New Ohio Hosts
By Anna Jastrzembski
Directed by Jenna Hoffmann
The Happy Garden of Life is inspired by a Kurt Vonnegut short story about population control and follows the lives of various citizens caught up in a system of government-encouraged suicide. Through multiple storylines that converge in a hospital waiting room where a woman is about to give birth to triplets, The Happy Garden of Life considers how one person’s worth can be qualified over another’s.
Director Jenna Hoffmann is a NYU Directing graduate with a passion for physical theatre. Jenna has trained with Anne Bogart’s SITI Company and worked with STREB, and her current focus is on creating experiences that go beyond the theater space and into the world. Playwright Anna Jastrzembski graduated with an MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University. As an artist she is interested in how feminist and queer theory, poetry, political activism, and performance intersect.
