"Inspired and inventive...this adaptation resonates as much today as in 1840s England." - The New York Times

"Performed by an excellent six-person cast, this production is thoroughly theatrical, frequently delightful, and ultimately ambivalent about Dickensí message of redemption. The ensemble works together as well as any company Iíve seen." - TheatreIsEasy.com

New Ohio Theatre presents Blessed Unrest

Adapted by Matt Opatrny from the story by Charles Dickens
Directed and Choreographed by Jessica Burr

Blessed Unrestís acclaimed retelling of Dickensí classic is back by popular demand!

Featuring: J.Stephen Brantley, Claire Fort, Tatyana Kot, Becca Schneider, Nathan Richard Wagner, and Joshua Wynter

Ebenezer Scrooge is about to get a wakeup call.

Six actors play thirty-seven characters in this raw, physical and darkly comic story of a man grappling with his life of isolation, and choosing to enact positive change in the troubled world around him.

In 1843, in lieu of publishing a political pamphlet entitled "An Appeal to the People of England on behalf of the Poor Manís Child", Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol. This adaptation returns to the storyís original intent as an examination of an unjust socioeconomic system that benefits a few at the top while the masses struggle to meet their basic needs. It shows the capacity of an individual to overcome fear, expand their perspective, and take action for others.

"If you are a theatre lover, and want a new take on a classic that is a cut-above, Blessed Unrestís A Christmas Carol is a must-see this season." - NY Theatre Now
