A fearless young woman goes on a quest to save her friend from a frozen world devoid of feelings. Featuring Blessed Unrest's signature physicality, magical transformations, extravagant costumes, and modern humor.
With: Rich Brown, Todd Grace, Tatyana Kot, Nancy McArthur, Celli Pitt, and Joshua Wynter
Following the 2016 hit production of A Christmas Carol ("powerful...haunting at some moments and palpably joyous at others" – The Reviews Hub), the award-winning company Blessed Unrest returns to New Ohio Theater with a contemporary riff on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic, tailored for the entire 21st century family (ideal for children 7 and up).
Developed in a year-long New Victory LabWorks residency, The Snow Queen remains faithful to Andersen’s wild tale, presenting the title monarch as a metaphor for the cool allure of modern technology – the force that alters most present-day interpersonal interactions. Our protagonist couple are not the victims of a sinister force, but sentient travelers in search of deep human connection.
